Byker

  Margaret Byker passed away Nov. 20
at the Milaca Elim Nursing Home at the
age of 83.

  Funeral services were held Friday,
Nov. 22, at the Christian Reformed'
Church in Pease with Rev. Frank Pott officiating.
Music was provided by Mrs.
Donna Kiel, accompanied by organist
Mrs. Lois Roelofs.

  Interment was in the Pease Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Ben Byker, Bruce
Byker, Wes Kiel, Dennis Kiel, Merlyn
Kiel and Curt Kiel.

  Margaret was born on April 27, 1902
to Tjeerd and Margaret Santema in
Boyden, Iowa. She moved to the Pease
area in 1907 with her family and was
married to Joe Byker on Nov. 20, 1922 in
Pease. Margaret had attended the Pease
Christian School and was a member of
the Christian Reformed Church in Pease.

  The couple resided in Chicago for five
years and the rest of the time they farmed
in the Pease area. In 1978 they moved
into Pease and for the past four years
Margaret has resided at the Milaca Elim
Nursing Home.

  She is survived by her husband, Joe of
Pease; one daughter, Mrs. Pete (Gertrude)
Kiel of Milaca; three sons, Gerald
of Onamia, Alan and Harry both of
Milaca; 17 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren;
two sisters, Mrs. Sena
Kamstra of Milaca and Bertha Santema
of Michigan.

  She was preceded in death by her
parents, two brothers, two sisters, and
one granddaughter.
