James F. Masters

James F. Masters, 74, of Cape Coral passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. He was born in Duluth, Minn., on May 14, 1934, to James and Leora Masters.

He served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1954-56 and in the reserves till 1962. After his discharge he attended Hillsdale College in Michigan where he earned his B.A. degree. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1961 and began his insurance career. In 1971, he moved to Cape Coral because of the great fishing. He worked as an independent insurance agent for Allstate and retired after 30 years.

For the past 10 years he enjoyed working at the Cape Coral WalMart in sporting goods. He will be remembered for his love of boating, fishing and hunting.

His family includes his wife, Ann Masters; two sons, Mikel D. Masters of Clearwater and James C. Masters of Bradenton; three daughters, Kim Masters of Texas, Michelle (Manny) Garcia of Alva and Heather (Ron) Cotorakas of Fort Myers and two step-sons, Matt (Denise) Wactor of North Carolina and Clay Wactor of Las Vegas. Also surviving are one sister, Sandra Masters of Michigan; sister-in-law, Mary Masters of Texas; one nephew/godson, Jack Masters Jr. of Michigan; and two nieces, Lisa and Michelle Masters of Texas.

A private service will be held with immediate family and a scattering of the ashes will be at Jim's favorite fishing spot.
