Nancy C. (Kain) Place, 78, departed this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at ManorCare South. She was the loving wife of the late James L. Place. Nancy was born July 25, 1928, in Columbia, the daughter of Theodore "Ted" and Dorothy (Shenberger) Kain. She was a 1946 graduate of Saint Joseph Academy, Columbia, and a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, York. She is survived by a granddaughter, and was preceded in death by a son, Stephen K. Place. In a final act of generosity, Nancy donated her body to science through the Humanity Gifts Registry. A memorial service will be private at the request of the family. John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York, is in charge of the arrangements.
